The Cost of Sending Remittances December 2015 Data

ach quarter the World Bank publishes data on how much it costs to send money home. The Remittance Prices Worldwide database monitors the cost of sending remittances in major international corridors, which includes 300 country corridors — 35 remittance sending countries to 99 remittance receiving countries. The international community, led by the World Bank, started working on reducing the cost of sending money home in 2005. These efforts are estimated to have saved migrants and their families up to $62.5 billion to date.

In Q4 2015, Remittance Prices Worldwide (RPW) coverage increased substantially from 32 to 35 remittance sending countries and from 89 to 99 receiving countries, for a total of 300 (from 227) country corridors worldwide.
